Hardwork or Smartwork?

So many have asked me what is it that matters the most? Is it the hard work or the smart work?
Well, I would say none! What matters
the most to work hard. There is huge difference between working hard and hardworking. Working hard goes with the flow. You work hard when you are passionate about your work. While smart work is a tool that helps you while you were working hard at your passion.
Hard Work is routine. It’s diligent. It may lack goal or direction. It lacks passion. And it may not withstand the storm. Lets discuss this with a case study. There was a Manager, who had a new team member (Mr Hard worker) in his team. The team set out on a new project that required uploading the data into the system. The new team member enthusiastically worked the whole day and entered the entire data into the
system and ran the reports. Several errors were thrown in due to the mismatch and he sat down to rectify each and every one of them diligently. He overshot the working hours and sat thru late hours and finished the task successfully and submitted the report to the manger and left for the day. Day 2, the same task of uploading more data was given and the day went on similar to the day 1. Third and fourth day were the same. The team member now got bored of his work but continued nevertheless. This repeated for almost a week. And he saw, another team player, who joined the same day got a new task and his share of data entry was also given to our Mr Hard worker. At the end of the week, Mr Hand worker came up to the manger and wanted to be acknowledged for staying up so late and doing all the hard work. The manager nodded in disagreement and explained the difference. "Though you are appreciated for solving in the errors and getting the desired results, you should have worked better by identifying the source of errors at the data level and getting error free data at source level. You could have delegated the work at source level rather than siting late and rectifying all the errors after entering it into the system. And you could have utilized the time in by working hard in identifying the pattern and automating the system for faster results. We are hired here to automate the system and save the company in terms of TIME, MONEY and MANPOWER. That's the goal of our project"
When you have passion for what you
do, when you have targets set when you have that fire in you to achieve your targets, you work hard to reaching your goals. You work with the flow. You think smart you think hard you think out of the box, you stretch your capabilities. You are out of your comfort zone. You achieve it by all means. You measure your results. But when you are hardworking you have no aims or targets. Your vision is narrow. You don't have any passion. How get used to doing the same after a certain period of time and the work gets boring. You will seek motivation and encouragement. You will be waiting and craving for success. You will stagnate in the same place. There will be no movement up the ladder of success. Use smart working tools and technologies to help you reach your destination faster.
